How much does a website cost in 2022?.

in

The number one aged old question for anyone that’s looking for a website!

How much will it cost?

There’ll be no smoke and mirrors here and I’m not going to hide prices behind lengthy scoping, discussions and phone calls – instead I’ll provide some helpful pricing brackets that most my clients will fall under.

Can I build my website really cheap, or better yet for free?

Yes you can, there’s plenty of site builders and options out there, Weebly, Squarespace and GoDaddy to name just a few, but…should you?

Why pay me or someone else if I can do it myself?

Free isn’t always the best option, or really ‘free’.

Most website builders have steep learning curves to overcome (which can cost you time and money when you should be doing what you do best, running your business), and then there’s the paywall where you have to pay for more desirable features to do what you want. Not to mention you’ll have a website that looks like thousands of others with generic templates, mundane functionality and just lacking that wow factor.

Doesn’t your business deserve more than this? Don’t you want to have something unique? Stand out from the crowd? And your competition?

What types of websites are there?

There are many types of websites out there to fit your business needs, these will most likely fall under three categories.

Static Website – For really simple websites that don’t need updating much, perfect for landing and holding pages or to advertise your business / service / product.

CMS (Content Management System) Website – For more advanced websites, giving you the ability to login, add and edit content as well as creating a blog and so much more.

eCommerce Website – For websites that sell online, from physical products, subscriptions all the way to virtual products (downloadable).

How much do the types of websites cost?

Prices vary depending on the type of website that you want along with the complexity and time involved to set up. These pricing brackets are an estimate of what you can expect to pay with me (a freelancer) and will typically be double or triple with agencies / development houses. The lower end being for more simple built websites, to the higher end being more advanced and bespoke functionality.

Static Website – £1,000 – £4,000.

Content Management System (CMS) Website – £1,300 – £8,000.

eCommerce Website – £1,500 – £20,000.

How long does it take to design and make a website?

The process is heavily dependent on the size of the scope for the project. On average most websites are completed within 4 to 8 weeks. This can be quicker or longer depending on the complexity of the scope and if there is scope creep (changes/additions to scope).

Static Website – 2 to 6 Weeks

Content Management System (CMS) Website – 4 to 10 Weeks

eCommerce Website – 6 to 30 Weeks
